PS5 FAQ
This link has been provided for your convenience as your question about PS5 support is answered here. Thank you for flying with Cronus Air, have a great day :)
Here's a list of common questions we've been getting from the Cronus Community.

1) How does PS5 Game support work?

The PS5 DualSense controller is locked down so we must use a workaround to boot PS5 games. This is done by using a PS4 Speciality Controller (which we also condensed into the PS5 Dongle), and is currently the only known workaround for booting PS5 games. The only down sides are no rumble support for several titles, and that the workaround can be patched at any time on a game by game basis.

2) What PS5 Games work with Cronus Zen?

Any PS5 game that supports PS4 Speciality Controllers will work with Cronus Zen. We keep this Google Docs chart updated with all the known PS5 releases. Green means it's supported, Red means it's not. If a PS5 game is not supported you can also check if the PS4 version works on the PlayStation 5.

If it does not support PS4 Speciality Controllers, the game will show the error "PS5 games can't be played using the current controller" and no there is no "fix" for it, other than asking Sony to put PS4 controller support back?

3) I have Rainbow 6 and it was working great with my PS5 Dongle, now after an update it's giving me an error and won't boot?

When we said this workaround can be patched at any time, this is what we meant. Some developers have started to remove PS4 Speciality Controller support from their games, which sucks for owners of controllers like the very expensive Astro C40 and Scuf Vantage. The good news is you can still boot the PS4 version of this game and it will work fine - with rumble. At the time of writing only 5 games are known to have been patched.

4) PS5 Fortnite was patched, but the PS4 version on disc is not booting?

There is at least one exception that we know of where the physical PS4 disc and PS4 digital download will not boot on a PlayStation 5, and that is Fortnite.

5) Will PS4 Games still work with Zen?

So far in tests, all PS4 versions of games are booting on the PlayStation 5 except for one, Fortnite.

Switching between PS5 and PS4 versions on your PlayStation 5 console

If you own the PS4 and PS5 versions of the same game, here's how to switch between them:
    1.
From the Games Home Screen, go to the Game Library.
    2.
Select the game and press X
    3.
Select the [...] button on the screen to view options.
    4.
Select the version of the game you want to download or play.
Note: If you are unsure of what version of the game you are viewing on this screen:
PS4 versions display PS4 beside the game title at the top of the screen.
PS5 versions only display the game title.

6) Is Rust not supported? Because I don't see it on the PS5 compatible games list.

Rust is a PS4 Game. Yes it works on the PS5, there just isn't a PS5 version of it yet

7) Will there be a fix?

We get asked a LOT if we're hopeful to find a fix, or how long do we think it will take, or some XYZ controller is being released and do we think that will help? and the answer to all this is of course we're hopeful to find any solution, but couldn't possibly know if one will be found in the future. What we can tell you is that we're always working on development, and if something changes it will be posted to this page.
There's only two known ways to boot PS5 games with Zen, the first would involve cracking the security chip of the DualSense controller, and to this day no one has fully cracked the DS4 controller, so it's highly unlikely that will ever happen with DualSense. The second known way to boot PS5 games is what we currently use with Cronus Zen, which is the PS4 Speciality Mode workaround. This method relies on the game supporting PS4 Speciality Controllers, and if support is removed then the only "fix" is to find another workaround, which we are actively working on - as are many others looking for a similar solution.

8) I saw a guy on YouTube who has a PS5 solution...

Well, you can see a lot of things on YouTube, but none of them involves booting the PS5 versions of Call of Duty Vanguard or Fortnite with a Cronus Zen using this workaround or any other workaround.
We hope you would appreciate that the Cronus development team are an extremely skilled group of individuals with decades of experience in this specific field. We know exactley how it works, why it works, and what can cause it not to work. There's nothing anyone on YouTube could tell us about a product we have spent the last 8 years developing. Try to remember that if you ever find yourself questioning if someone knows more about Cronus than Cronus does
😁
Yes we've also been offered a number of "solutions" from other sources and no, none of them work. Half of these guys have been offering us the exact same solution we offer in our own PS5 Dongle - they don't even know what the problem is

Look, it's not all doom and gloom, a similar thing happened with the PS4 and we eventually discovered a workaround for that with CronusMAX PLUS (it was November 2015 and also why it disconnects every 8-10 minutes if auth isn't setup correctly), so who knows what will happen in the future? You won't need to ask for an update as this page will always be updated with the latest developments, so bookmark it for later
