Is your Cronus Zen not detected by the Firmware Update Tool or Zen Studio? Find out why.....
If your Cronus Zen is not detected by your computer don't panic! It's almost always caused by the USB cable. It highlights this throughout these instructions but we still get a lot of users who miss those parts so here's a page dedicated to showing you how to get your Zen detected correctly.
If you've been directed to this page by support staff and you've already followed the steps, don't be upset they're just doing their jobs - there are no other steps to correct this issue.
Firmware Update Tool
Error: No Devices Found
This is the most common issue, but also the easiest one to resolve.
Unplug everything from the Cronus Zen
Press and hold the small blue reset button underneath the Zen
Connect the short micro-USB cable from Zen's rear CONSOLE USB Port to your Windows computer
Keep pressing the reset button until 'Zen Bootloader' appears on the OLED screen.
If your USB cable is functional, the firmware update tool will detect the Cronus Zen hardware.
Many users make the mistake of using the mini-USB cable to upgrade the firmware, which is for Zen Studio, not for Firmware upgrades.
If your Cronus Zen is still not detected at this point, it's almost always one of these issues:
The micro-USB cable is faulty or not fully plugged in (try another cable).
The Zen OLED displays an error code (E3001, E2010 etc - fix it here)
You are using Windows 7 and didn't install the driver fix (See the Downloads page)
If the firmware update tool still says 'No Device Found' after following the above steps, as a last resort try another PC, just in case there are problems with the one you are using.
If that also doesn't work then you should return the Zen to the store you purchased from and file a return claim. Remember, we provide you with a great warranty👍
Error: Device Disconnected
If Zen Studio says Device Disconnected (or Device Not Connected), even after you have successfully updated the firmware, it is almost always one of these issues:
Zen Studio must be opened in Administrator Mode (File > Relaunch as Admin)
The mini-USB cable is faulty or not fully plugged in (push fully in and/or try another cable).
